It is characterised by a robust build, long legs, a short face, long tufted ears, relatively short tail, and long canine teeth. The caracal is a mesmerizing cat of great courage and beauty With its extraordinarily long and pointy ears and its freakish ability to fling itself metres in the air and almost fly, it is a predator to be feared and an animal to inspire awe. The cat is sometimes referred to as the persian lynx and is probably most recognizable for its tufted, black ears. These strongly built felines have tan to brick red coats, distinctive tufted ears and long legs, especially their hindquarters. Native to much of africa and parts of the middle east and asia, it thrives in savannas, dry forests and arid regions.
