I have a 2017 cummins it's my daily driver that i tow a car trailer with every now and then, truck is completely stock besides a tune and deleted. So the actuator is working and talking to the pcm even though the scanner still shows the vgt module is offline and cannot communicate with it I love this sturdy actuator, the city diesel tech department swift and usefull answer and my truck. This is not a reman or a rebuild of an existing unit To work on it you needed training, expensive tools and you couldn't. This weekend i replaced my vgt actuator, turbo, and exhaust manifold due to the notorious actuator failure I installed a city diesel actuator on a turbo time stage 2 vgt turbo, and a aftermarket factory style manifold Now that the truck is back together and i have driven it i seem to have lack. Is it possible to replace just the actuator motor rather than the entire turbo
I have no exhaust brake and very little boost under load (when trying to climb a hill) The dealer said the ecm is not communicating with the turbo control module, which is. If you replace the actuator, it will need to relearn, which is not a new flash However if you replace it with the city diesel actuator that @cumminsdieselfreak sells, you do not even need to do the relearn process, as it is a plug and play improved replacement that works better then the factory without needing to relearn anything. So, turbo replacement could be needed, this is also why the warranty should cover it But, if you get hung with having to pay for it, then that link i posted to the actuator for $919, same place sells the complete turbo and actuator in reman for $2150, and the actuator is already calibrated, so you could install it yourself.
Replace the turbo & or actuator, or upgrade (granted, that includes tuning, deleting, exhaust, turbo and manifold, and built transmission)
