Endermen are dismantling my mob grinder

This question has an answer that suggests endermen can't spawn on slabs, so if i cover the whole floor with slabs, i should be fine Except i read single s. With slabs you would always see mobs just standing still while water pushes them off the platforms.the farm would still work but probably with rates that are a tiny bit lower than the optimal design I just remembered that pathfinding only occurs if there is a player closer than 32 blocks to the mob. The few forum posts i found were years old, but they seemed to say that mobs cannot spawn on slabs at all, they can only spawn on full blocks I also read the wiki pages for both mob spawning and wither skelerton spawning but they did not mention slabs anywhere

New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be. This post on reddit says mobs no longer spawn on carpets, so there may be other blocks that can be used, such as snow layering Mobs can only not spawn on blocks that are less than a full block in height Can mobs spawn on top slabs If they can, can they wander on slabs or will they only wander to full blocks Final thing, do 2 slab blocks count as full blocks

The other possibility is that they aren't spawning because the roof of the build (not the spawn platform) is bottom half cobblestone slabs but the roof is 2 blocks above the spawn platform so i don't think that would be a problem (because i only want common hostile mobs that aren't endermen) archived post. Aren't those slabs placed upon slabs I keep getting conflicting information as to where they can and cannot spawn (they can spawn on slabs/they cannot spawn on slabs etc) i'm going to attempt building what looks like a village with a central pond where golems can spawn and be killed in a deep lava chamber. Make a mob switch or check if the slabs are right because if some of them are on top of a block and not on the bottom they can still spawn since top half slabs count as spawning area
