Isaac newton is best know for his theory about the law of gravity, but his “principia mathematica” (1686) with its three laws of motion greatly influenced the enlightenment in europe. In the late 17th century, isaac newton made groundbreaking strides in mathematics by developing a branch of mathematics that would later be known as calculus Newton referred to it as “fluxions,” focusing on the rates of change and accumulation.
