Brownell's gunkote is the better choice than durakote, but i have no personal experience using the 2 part durablue other than looking at it. Oxpho blue from brownells worked well for me Degreased, heated and went at it like i was polishing it Didn't do a whole gun but the results weren't bad. The gun in question was bought for 50 dollars in that condition had zero value all together After bluing it had gained in shooters value which hinted at what might of been
But that hint confused the question of is a collectable ruined or not Every firearm has an ideal value, a useable value and a realistic value. I was given an older remington 1100 with some slight pitting on the receiver and barrel Gun blue 490 recommends mineral spirits and mineral oil He seem to know a thing or two about guns. We are going to mix it up a bit with this sunday's 80 bird event
After the first 60 targets are shot the scores are going to be added up The top half of the board. Got a shoot tommorrow, going to be a steady rain all day What's your gun prep for a raining day I plan a good spray of rem oil before, try to keep covered as much as possible Then keep out of case for 2 hour drive home and cleaning.
I’m not sure if this should be in the gunsmithing forum but i kind of remember some discussion about this I’m going to sand down a walnut stock that has had it’s clear coat surface scratched up in quite a few spots I’ve done a couple stocks repairs with sanding then true oil or polyurethane. Does anyone have the number of the gun club at biloxi When i google info it does not give the phone number I have pre squaded for my wife and i tomorrow ( thur, but, we can't make it that day and i want to release the squads for the doubles and hdcp
