Incidental kills are possible but i don't blame the lease owners for trying to do something about the coyotes Many leases and hunters are reporting steadily declining deer numbers and increasing numbers of coyotes. I know, it's deer season not trappin' season But a buddy of mine who let's my grandboys catch ditch pickles in his pond has a coyote issue So i set a few on his place today All flat sets with urine and lures, no food sets, trying to avoid coons and possums
Maybe i'll have one caught by. Two black coyotes from the same farm about 2 hrs apart Best coyote hunting night i’ve ever had 4 total and we had 3 on one stand. Coyotes and coyote sign will come and go on a property They seem to have very large home ranges
My theory is right now coyotes are grouping up and going through a coyote rut, so if you got them, you really got them They are concentrating heavily to certain areas, unfortunately they seem to. Looks like he’s done put on his winter coat. Please, ladies and gentlemen, let's not turn this into a thread on whether or not the 22 mag is the ideal coyote caliber I know there may be better and bigger rounds for taking coyotes at extended ranges, however, due to where i can hunt, the 22 mag rimfire will be my chosen gun for the task. Do you use coyote urine on all of your trap sets or just certain ones
If so how much urine and when to refresh? M could have just shot a coyote at 12 yards but i was messing with my phone Pictures or it didn’t happen That shotgun will work fine You might look for shells with larger shot Even the smaller buckshot would be an option
And i have several rifles with muzzle devises and they are loud I just always wear amplifying muffs You get a slim pair and you get used to them. I’ve used fox + coyote urine from walmart/academy.and had good results.until they get used to it & recognize it as a red flag Then,i switch to cat urine,or a new (strange) coyote urine…and catches pick back up Yes,i have used regular housecat urine.and “droppings”…and it worked.
