I had some trouble after ninite installed a 32 bit jre instead of 64 bit. In my opinion, ninite is the safest site to install programs from When you open ninite you are presented with a list of programs to select from With the exception of ccleaner, they are the programs i use to maintain my computer. Ninite automates installation of publicly available software packages that most likely contain.msi files If you are paranoid, download the.msi files yourself (you should be anyways) and then you have version change control.

Sourceforge started losing traffic though and their pulled their adware thingy So, in the end you can't really trust it but, currently, the chances of ninite betraying you is the same as any of the proprietary software you can download from ninite. Presumably ninite pro does the same thing except the software vendors receive a portion of the fee ninite charges to use ninite pro (again, presumably) Adobe asks ninite to remove adobe flash from the free side so as to force people to go directly to adobe.com to download flash (where the added bloatware has a better chance of being installed).
