Welcome to the eighth edition of the ai index report The 2025 index is our most comprehensive to date and arrives at an important moment, as ai's influence across society, the economy, and global governance continues to intensify. In this position paper, we argue neurips should actively catalyze scientific consensus on ai policy Beyond identifying the current deficit in consensus formation mechanisms, we argue that neurips is the best option due its strengths and the paucity of compelling alternatives. In this discussion paper, we seek to articulate a framework for integrating discussions on the nascent ai policy landscape into computer science courses. Here we translate our observations into policy recommendations to align scientific incentives with trustworthy ai integration
