The mondragón cooperative corporation is a 35 year old experiment in building a comprehensive cooperative society in which labor plays the primary and dominant role. Although it remains closely tied to its place of origin, spain’s basque region, mondragon now has a global reach of businesses in 35 countries. Mondragon represents a paradigm shift for organizational structure and thinking I believe that an understanding of its history, structure, and success offers a profound alternative to the singular corporate vision of the future that is now in ascendancy.
